Strategic Objectives ABoR’s Candidate Interview Panels vet and interview candidates for public office within ABoR’s jurisdiction and makes recommendations for potential endorsements to the Legislative Management Team. The purpose of Candidate Interviews are as follows: 

1. To provide an opportunity for ABoR members to become better acquainted with candidates running for elected office and their stances on issues that affect the real estate industry. 

2. To educate the candidates on some of the issues and views, as determined by ABoR’s Legislative Management Team (LMT) and Board of Directors (BOD), that are important to the Association concerning the real estate industry and private property rights. 

3. To determine whether a candidate is worthy of support and to make recommendations for support to the ABoR Board of Directors. 

Qualifications 

Candidate Interview Panel members should meet the following qualifications: 

• Registered voter 

• TREPAC Contributor 

• Completion of the relevant training 

• Agreement to abide by the Conflict of Interest Policy, Objectivity Statement, and Confidentiality Statement 

• Some knowledge of or experience with local government or politics is preferred 

Selection Process All applicants will be invited to attend the two-hour training session in the Spring of 2026. Those who complete the training will select which panel(s) they prefer to sit on. The Legislative Management Team (LMT) Chair and Vice Chair will make recommendations to the LMT for the makeup of each Candidate Interview Panel. The LMT will review makeup of each panel and will make a final recommendation for the Board of Directors to approve before the of Summer 2026.  

Time Commitment All panel members will be required to attend the two-hour training session in the Spring of 2026. Additionally, each Candidate Interview Panel will meet up to six times during the late summer and early fall to interview candidates for public office. The number of times a Candidate Interview Panel will need to meet is dependent on the number of candidates running for each office.

The ABoR Foundation’s efforts are led by an Advisory Group comprised of the members of an overarching Board of Directors and diverse candidates who have demonstrated a consistent track record in community service and/or fundraising initiatives and who share the ABoR Foundation’s commitment to housing, education, and disaster relief.

Foundation Ambassadors champion and support the ABoR Foundation's initiatives related to housing, education, and disaster relief in Central Texas. Ambassadors have the opportunity to get involved in the Scholarship Program, housing builds, service projects, fundraising, member outreach, and more. If you're looking for a way to get involved and do some good at various points throughout the year or a volunteer role that works with your busy schedule, this one is for you!

Strategic Objectives 

The Audit Committee assists the Board of Directors in its oversight responsibilities regarding the integrity, compliance, internal and external audit/review functions of the Association. Members and officers are recommended by the Vetting Committee and approved by the Board of Directors each fall.

The strategic objectives of the Audit Committee are to: 

• Assist the ABoR Board of Directors with oversight of the annual financial audit or financial review 

• Assess the qualifications and independence of independent auditors selected to conduct the audit or financial review 

• Assess the performance of the independent auditors following the audit or financial review 

Qualifications 

Committee members should have a working familiarity with basic finance and accounting practices. Members should also be able to read and understand fundamental financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and statements of cash flow. Applicants must be a primary or secondary ABoR REALTOR® member to serve on this committee. 

Time Commitment 

The Audit Committee typically meets once a year, or as often as necessary to enable fulfillment of its responsibilities.

Strategic Objectives 

The Budget Committee is responsible for reviewing financial policies, goals, and budgets that support the mission, values, and strategic goals of ABoR and Unlock MLS. 

Qualifications 

Budget Committee members should have a working familiarity with basic finance and accounting practices and be able to read and understand fundamental financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements and statements of cash flow.  Applicants must be a primary or secondary ABoR REALTOR® member to serve on this committee. 

Time Commitment 

The Budget Committee typically meets quarterly to review financial statements. In the fourth quarter of each year, the committee meets as often as necessary to recommend the annual budgets for approval by the ABoR and Unlock MLS Boards of Directors.

Strategic Objectives 

The Diversity Committee coordinates activities related to increasing the overall diversity and inclusiveness of ABoR volunteers and leadership to ensure ABoR is an inclusive organization with programming to meet the needs of our diverse community.  The Committee is comprised of appointed representatives from ABoR’s Strategic Partner organizations, as well as 10-15 at large positions. 

Qualifications 

At large positions on the Diversity Committee must be filled by ABoR primary or secondary REALTOR® members. Applicants who are active in any of ABoR’s Strategic Partner organizations or have experience working on diversity issues are preferred. 

Time Commitment 

The Diversity Committee meets quarterly, or as often as necessary to fulfill its responsibilities.

Global Advisory Group  

The ABoR Global Advisory Group serves as a valuable resource to the ABoR Global staff in identifying opportunities to engage, support, and build international business opportunities for our members and the Central Texas region.   

• An ABoR Global Advisor has demonstrated commitment and passion for assisting ABoR members in learning about international real estate.  

• They have completed or are in the process of completing the Certified International Property Specialist Designation (CIPS), Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), or similar. One or more Global Advisors may be international subject matter experts outside of the membership at large.  

• They are willing to champion the ABoR Global Business Alliance, ABoR Global Ambassadors, and ABoR Global Advisory group.  

• The ABoR Global Advisory group will attend all global meetings, events, and programming held at ABoR Headquarters or ABoR On-Air (virtually).   

• ABoR Global Advisors are strongly encouraged to attend the Texas Realtors®' global programming and the National Association of REALTORS® international programming, among other conferences that help position Austin in the worldwide market.  

• The ABoR Global Advisory Group comprises of a Global Chair, Global Vice Chair, Global Past Chair, and two Global Ambassadors, totaling five Global Advisory Group positions.  

Qualifications  

Advisors may be ABoR members or affiliated professionals with global real estate expertise. Once a Global Advisor has been selected to be on the Global Advisory Group, a member has the opportunity to rotate through the Chair, Vice-Chair, and Past Chair roles as part of their term(s). Otherwise, the term is one year.   

Time Commitment: (Global Advisory Meetings): 3-6 hours annually  

Time Commitment (Global Ambassador Meetings): 1.5 hours/quarter, January 2025 –December 2025  

Time Commitment: (Programming): 12-15 hours/annum, January 2025 – December 2025

Strategic Objectives  ABoR Global Ambassadors | Continents, Countries, Regions & Entities  

The ABoR Global Ambassadors serves as a valuable resource to the ABoR Global staff and the Global Advisory Group in identifying opportunities to engage, support, and build international business opportunities for ABoR members and the Central Texas region.     

• The ABoR Global Ambassadors provide subject matter expertise. ABoR Global Ambassadors are appointed by the ABoR Global Advisory Group and ABoR Staff from an application process to serve as liaisons to their assigned country or entity each fall. The continents, countries, regions, or internationally focused local entities are based on the membership’s needs and selected by the incoming Global Advisory Group.  

• An ABoR Global Ambassador has demonstrated commitment and passion for assisting ABoR members in learning about international real estate.  

• Each ABoR Global Ambassador is generally a Certified International Property Specialist Designation (CIPS) designee with a working knowledge of the culture and language of the country they represent or in the process of completing their CIPS, Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) or similar.  

• In addition, ABoR Global Ambassadors provide insight into emerging real estate strategies, trends, and resources within their respective focus countries or regions.  

• They show a willingness to champion the ABoR Global Business Alliance, Global Ambassadors, and Global Advisory Group.  

• The ABoR Global Ambassadors will attend all global meetings, events, and programming held at ABoR Headquarters or ABoR On-Air (virtually).   

• ABoR Global Ambassadors are strongly encouraged to attend the Texas Realtors®' global programming and the National Association of REALTORS® international programming, among other conferences that help position Austin in the worldwide market.  

• ABoR Global Ambassadors positions represent a vast global footprint locally and no more than 40 positions any given year.  

• ABoR Global Ambassadors serve at the Global Advisory Group's discretion for one year and may be reappointed. Global Ambassadors help develop and maintain ABoR's essential relationships with foreign countries through their consulates, chambers, economic development organizations, or cities locally, where appropriate.  

Qualifications  

ABoR Global Ambassadors may be ABoR members or ABoR affiliated professionals with international real estate knowledge and expertise.

Time Commitment (Global Ambassador Meetings): 1.5 hours/quarter (mandatory)  

Time Commitment: (Programming): Approximately 12-15 hours/annum (additional time for research and preparation outside of meetings may be needed)

Strategic Objectives 

Policy Ambassadors are a key extension of the ABoR’s advocacy efforts that foster strong relationships with local elected officials through intentionally connecting elected officials with specific Central Texas REALTORS®. Policy Ambassadors provide local elected officials with their unique perspectives on real estate issues and public policy issues that are important to Central Texas REALTORS®. Each Policy Ambassador position is for a 2-year term.  

Qualifications Policy Ambassadors must be a primary ABoR member, TREPAC investor, registered voter and a willingness to play an active role in specified grass roots initiatives.  Preference will be given to members who live within the elected officials district, have past ABoR involvement, understand issues affecting Central Texas REALTORS® and have an interest in politics.   

Time Commitment Policy Ambassadors meet 3-4 times a year for training and information sharing. The Policy Ambassadors are expected to be in contact with their Elected Official at least once a month by phone, email or in-person and report back to ABoR staff.  

Number of Open Positions Available: 10 

The Industry Awards Committee assists in honoring ABoR members who have made outstanding contributions to the real estate industry and their community and best reflects the member charge to Advocate, Build, Change, and Lead. The Industry Awards Committee will screen anonymous applications and recommend finalists to the Board of Directors for approval, as well as serve as event ambassadors promoting nominations, applications, sponsorships and attendance.

Strategic Objectives 

The strategic objectives of the Industry Awards Candidate Review Committee are to: 

Score vetted applications and select finalists and winners of ABoR members who have made outstanding contributions to the real estate industry and their community and best reflect the member charge to Advocate, Build, Change, and Lead. 

In addition, committee members shall act as event ambassadors promoting nominations, applications, sponsorships and attendance. 

Qualifications 

•  The Committee shall consist of seven (7), but no more than nine (9), REALTOR members that may include up to 2 Affiliate members. 

•   Committee members must be in good standing and currently practicing real estate for a minimum of 2 years 

• The Chair and 1 committee member will be appointed within the committee for a 2^nd year for consistency.  

Time Commitment 

The Industry Awards Candidate Review Committee meets up to 5 times in the first and second quarters.

Strategic Objectives 

The Legislative Management Team serves as the front line of advocacy volunteerism on behalf of ABoR. The committee makes policy, candidate and issues recommendations as requested by the Board of Directors, aligned with ABoR’s Policy Principles and NAR’s Preamble Code of Ethics which includes the tenets of private property rights, strategic land use, and business issues and practices. The Legislative Management Team consists of a committee chair, vice chair, previous year chair, ABoR Board of Director or designee, all Texas REALTORS® Region 15 TREPAC Trustees and Political Involvement Council representative, the chair and vice chair of the TREPAC Committee, and four Policy Team Lead positions that focus on business issues, land use, property rights and rental issues.  

Qualifications 

LMT Policy Team Leads must be a primary or secondary REALTOR® member of ABoR and should have some experience with local government or public policy issues. 

Time Commitment 

LMT Policy Team Leads: LMT Policy Team Leads are required to attend the monthly LMT meetings. Policy Team Leads are required to attend meetings to help craft ABoR’s annual public policy agenda, which typically occurs twice a year. In addition, Policy Team Leads are expected to be a go-to resource for ABoR Staff on policy issues related to their respective Policy Team and may be asked to participate in meetings with local officials as the need arise.

Strategic Objectives & Functions 

The MLS Compliance Committee works with the MLS Staff in the oversight of the MLS Rules and regulations by reviewing subscriber input and coordinating Appeals or Required Hearings.

The strategic objectives of the MLS Compliance Committee are to: 

1. Work with the Unlock MLS staff in the ongoing assessment of compliance mechanisms along with providing oversight and enforcement of the Unlock MLS Rules & Regulations.  

2. Provide ongoing assessment, improvement, and implementation of MLS Rules & Regulations and associated Compliance Mechanisms. 

3. Hear or review written complaints not prescribed by Unlock MLS’s Compliance Escalation Process, any dispute of prescribed penalties, and mandatory hearings for Participants and their licensees having to do with an infraction of MLS Rules and Regulations. 

Qualifications 

Committee members must have a minimum of 3 years of real estate experience, as well as have a firm understanding of the Unlock MLS Rules and Regulations. Applicants must be a primary or secondary ABoR REALTOR® member to serve on this committee.   

Parameters Members of this committee shall serve for a two (2) year term and staggered so that ½ of the members are appointed each year. A person may only serve three (3) consecutive terms; after two (2) calendar years off, a person will become eligible to be reappointed for additional terms. Subject to the limitation on terms served consecutively, there is no limit on the total number of terms a person may serve.  

Time Commitment The MLS Compliance Committee meets at least quarterly, or more frequently as the committee may determine. Disciplinary hearings will occur as needed.

Strategic Objectives 

Policy Teams serve as educational opportunities where we turn our members into experts on specific public policy issues that are identified in ABoR’s Public Policy Principles, including: business issues, land use, private property rights, and rental issues. Each of ABoR’s four Policy Teams have a Policy Team Lead who serves on the Legislative Management Team (LMT), provides ABoR Staff with a practitioner’s perspective on policy issues related to their Policy Team, and helps ABoR staff monitor and advise the LMT on policy issues within their Policy Team’s scope. If you would like to be a Policy Team Lead you need to apply through the LMT application.  

Qualifications 

Policy Team Members must be a primary or secondary REALTOR® member of ABoR. 

Time Commitment 

Policy Team Members: Policy Teams meet twice a year to help craft ABoR’s annual public policy agenda.  

Number of Open Positions Available: Unlimited  

Strategic Objectives 

The TREPAC Committee is charged with creating and executing the annual plan to raise funds for TREPAC (Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee). This committee plans events, creates and executes fundraising strategies, and supports the efforts of the PAC. 

Qualifications TREPAC Committee members should meet the following qualifications: 

• Registered voter 

• Commitment to support TREPAC at the “Fair Share” level or higher 

• Fundraising experience 

• Event-planning experience 

• Politically active/involved at the local, state, and/or national level 

• Primary or Secondary REALTOR® or affiliate member of ABoR 

 Time Commitment The TREPAC committee meets monthly. Committee members are also required to attend at least one TREPAC fundraising event annually. 

 Number of Open Positions Available: minimum 10, maximum 35

Strategic Objectives 

The strategic objectives of the Vetting Committee are to: 

1. Nominate the most qualified candidates for ABoR Board of Directors positions in accordance with the ABoR Bylaws. These nominations will be provided to the general membership for a vote.  

2. Recommend to the Board of Directors the most qualified candidates for Texas REALTOR® Director and Texas REALTOR® Regional Vice President for Board approval. 

3. Recommend to the Board of Directors the most qualified candidates for ABoR Committee Members, Committee Chairs, and Committee Vice Chairs for Board approval. 

Qualifications Committee members should have a thorough understanding of the ABoR and Unlock MLS Strategic Plans as well as the operational focus of both entities to better understand the leadership needed to move the organization forward. Applicants must be a primary or secondary ABoR REALTOR® member to serve on this committee.   

Time Commitment The Vetting Committee meets nine (9) times annually, including two (2) full days of candidate interviews.

The ABoR YPN Advisory Group is comprised of members whose purpose is to create a diverse membership base and to generate a forum for not only social and professional networking, but for professional education and the promotion of civic involvement in the Greater Austin area. 

Qualifications 

Committee members should have a thorough understanding of the ABoR and Unlock MLS Strategic Plans as well as the operational focus of both entities to better understand the leadership needed to move the organization forward. Applicants must be a primary or secondary ABoR REALTOR® member or affiliated professionals to serve on this committee. 

Time Commitment 

Monthly 1 hour in person committee meetings and 20 hours annually are set aside for educational networking mixers.
